Chaitanya T Waghchoure is a specialist orthopaedic surgeon proficient in complex knee surgery, sports medicine and joint replacements. He cares for fractures, primary and complex ligament injuries of the knee, cartilage injury and chronic degenerative disorders including knee arthritis. With extensive clinical experience of over 10 years, Dr Waghchoure believes in providing quality medical care with his meticulous, compassionate and patient centered approach.

Dr Waghchoure received his medical degree (MBBS) from Maharashtra University of Health Sciences and completed his post-graduation (MS Orthopaedics) from the prestigious Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai. During his 5 years working at KEM hospital, Dr Waghchoure was involved in extensive clinical and surgical work as well as undergraduate/postgraduate teaching and research. He then pursued his fellowship in Adult Hip and Knee Reconstruction at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai where he gained comprehensive experience in primary, complex primary and revision total joint replacements of the hip and knee. Further, due to his keen interest in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgeries, Dr Waghchoure undertook a clinical attachment in Knee Surgery under the supervision of world renowned knee surgeon, Dr Andy Williams (Fortius Clinic, London), and another in Upper limb surgery under the guidance of senior shoulder surgeon, Prof Lennard Funk (Wrightington, UK). During this time, he gained extensive experience in managing knee and shoulder sports injuries, particularly in elite athletes playing at Premiership Football and Rugby Leagues.

After his return to India, Dr Waghchoure worked at Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai for 3 years, focusing on hip and knee surgeries including trauma, joint replacements, arthroscopic surgeries and complex ligament reconstructions. Dr Waghchoure is actively involved in research having published numerous academic papers in peer reviewed international scientific journals. He is regularly invited as faculty to speak at national surgical conferences. Additionally, Dr Waghchoure is an organizing committee member and a speaker at the ‘International Annual Meeting of Arthroscopy Academy’ in Mumbai, where eminent surgeons around the world are invited to share their experiences and interact with the young Knee and Shoulder Arthroscopy surgeons of India. He is also involved in conducting various knee and shoulder cadaveric workshops every year. As an Associate Professor, Dr Waghchoure continues to teach post graduate surgical students at B. J. Medical College and Sassoon Hospital, Pune.

Outside of work, Dr Waghchoure enjoys playing various sports. He has played badminton at competitive (state and national) level which helped him understand the value of hardwork, dedication, consistency and perseverance and made him a fitness enthusiast. He loves to follow Football, Cricket, Lawn Tennis, Basketball and Volleyball. His other interests include singing, reading, travelling and photography. He is fluent in Marathi, Hindi and English.
